How to read a sunscreen label, Own Skin Dermatology & Advanced Aesthetics, Camp, Pune

SPF describes protection against UVB. It does not describe UVA protection, which is where PA ratings or a broad-spectrum claim come in. Both matter, particularly for pigmentation.

The best sunscreen is the one you will genuinely apply every day, in an adequate amount. Texture and finish are not vanity concerns; they determine whether the product gets used.

Reapplication matters most when you are outdoors for extended periods. Indoors, a single morning application is usually reasonable for most people.

If a sunscreen consistently stings, breaks you out or leaves a cast you dislike, bring it to your appointment. Alternatives exist for almost every skin type.
