Patient Consent & Communication

What you are agreeing to when you contact us, are treated, or share images with us. Effective 21 September 2026.

Consent at Own Skin Dermatology & Advanced Aesthetics is a conversation, not a signature. This page explains the different kinds of consent we ask for, what each one covers, and how you can change your mind.

1. Consent to be contacted

When you submit the appointment or enquiry form, call us, or message us on WhatsApp, you agree that we may contact you by phone, WhatsApp, SMS or email about your enquiry and your care, including appointment confirmations, reminders, aftercare instructions and test results.

We will not send you promotional messages unless you have separately agreed to receive them. You can stop any communication at any time by replying to the message or writing to care@ownskin.co.in. Communication needed for your safety, such as an urgent test result, may still be sent.

2. Consent to assessment and treatment

  • Every treatment is preceded by an in-person assessment by a dermatologist, who explains the diagnosis, the options (including doing nothing), what the recommended treatment involves, its expected benefits, its likely downtime, its risks and side effects, and the cost.
  • For any procedure, you sign a procedure-specific written consent form before it begins. You are welcome to take the form away and think about it; there is no obligation to decide on the day.
  • You can ask questions at any stage and withdraw consent at any time before or during a procedure. Withdrawing consent will not affect the care you receive from us in future.
  • Please tell us about all medicines, supplements, allergies, previous procedures, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any history of keloids, cold sores or pigmentation, so the consent you give is informed.

3. Clinical photography

We may ask to photograph the area being treated so that change can be compared objectively over time. These images form part of your medical record, are stored securely and are seen only by the clinical team.

Publishing or sharing any image, whether on this website, on social media, in printed material, at a conference or for teaching, requires a separate, specific written consent, which names where the image may be used and whether your face or identifying features will be visible. You can decline this consent without any effect on your care, and you can withdraw it later by writing to care@ownskin.co.in; we will remove the image from any channel we control within a reasonable time.

4. Images you send us

If you send photographs of your skin by WhatsApp or email before an appointment, we use them only to prepare for your consultation and add them to your record. Please send only what is needed; a consultation is the proper place for a full examination.

5. Children and people who cannot consent for themselves

For patients under 18, consent is given by a parent or legal guardian, who must be present at the consultation and during any procedure. We also involve the young person in the discussion in a way that is appropriate to their age. Where an adult is unable to consent for themselves, we follow applicable law on consent by an authorised representative.

6. Chaperones and privacy in the clinic

You may bring a companion to your consultation, and you can ask for a chaperone during any examination or procedure. Examinations of intimate areas are carried out with a chaperone present.

7. Records

Your consultation notes, consent forms, photographs and treatment records are kept as your patient record for as long as medical record-keeping rules require. You can ask for a copy at any time. How we protect and use your information is described in our privacy policy.

8. Questions or concerns

If you are unsure about anything you have been asked to agree to, or wish to withdraw a consent you have given, contact care@ownskin.co.in or call +91 86000 04399. Concerns about care are handled by the lead dermatologist and answered in writing.
