Treatment
Wart, Mole & Skin Tag Removal
Nothing is removed before it is examined. The method is chosen for the lesion, the site and your skin's tendency to scar or pigment.

Overview
What is wart, mole & skin tag removal?
Benign growths are removed only after they have been examined. The method chosen depends on the lesion type, its site and your skin's tendency to scar or pigment. Anything suspicious is investigated rather than simply removed.
Every plan at Own Skin Dermatology & Advanced Aesthetics begins with a consultation, an honest assessment of what will help, and what will not.

The science
How wart, mole & skin tag removal works
Clinical and dermoscopic examination confirms the lesion type
01
Examine first
Clinical and dermoscopic assessment confirms the lesion is benign before anything is done.
02
Choose the method
The technique is matched to the lesion type, its depth and the cosmetic sensitivity of the site.
03
Heal and review
Aftercare, sun protection and a review appointment keep the final mark as light as possible.
Healing and scar care are planned in advance

Your treatment journey
From first consultation to review
A structured pathway, so you know what happens at every visit.
Suitability
Is this treatment right for you?
Suitability is confirmed by a dermatologist after assessment, never from a page like this one.
Generally considered for
- Viral warts on the hands, feet, face or genital area
- Skin tags in the neck, underarm and groin folds
- Benign moles that catch, rub or are cosmetically unwanted
- Seborrhoeic keratoses and other benign growths in adults
Who may not be suitable
- Any lesion suspected to be malignant, that follows a diagnostic pathway instead
- Active infection or inflammation at the site
- Where a bleeding tendency is uncontrolled
- Where a dermatologist advises observation instead of removal
- Do not attempt home removal, cauterising pastes or thread tying beforehand
- Tell us about any bleeding disorder or blood-thinning medication
- Mention any past keloid or thick scar formation
- Photograph any lesion that has recently changed in size or colour
- Keep the site clean and dry as instructed for the first few days
- Apply prescribed ointment; do not pick the crust
- Protect the healed area from sun to reduce post-treatment darkening
- Report increasing pain, spreading redness or discharge
- A temporary mark, pink patch or pale spot at the site is common while healing
- Warts are viral and can recur; repeat treatment is sometimes needed
- Any lesion with suspicious features is investigated rather than simply removed
- Scarring risk is discussed before treatment, particularly on the chest, shoulders and jawline
